Description

MTF-01P is an optical flow ranging integrated sensor developed by MicoAir Technology. It uses uart to output data and is compatible with mainstream open source flight controllers such as Ardupilot, PX4 and INAV. It can be used directly after simple configuration without complicated development process.

MTF-01P features an integrated PMW3901 optical flow sensor and a high-performance Laser TOF sensor, which can be used normally in outdoor sunlight environments.

Q: What are the similarities and differences between the MTF-01, MTF-01P, and MTF-02 sensors?

A: All three sensors integrate TOF (Time of Flight) and optical flow functions, and they all use the same optical flow module—PMW3901. However, their TOF sensors differ:

  • MTF-01 and MTF-01P use more powerful TOF sensors, providing a longer range. The MTF-01P also utilizes a laser light source, extending the maximum range to 12 meters, and includes an injection-molded casing.
  • MTF-02 uses a lower-power TOF sensor, making it ideal for smaller drones where weight and size are critical factors.

Q: How do I choose the right sensor?

A: When selecting a sensor, you can follow these guidelines:

  • MTF-02: Best suited for small drones of 3 inches or less, as it is compact and lightweight, reducing the burden on your drone.
  • MTF-01: Ideal for drones between 3-5 inches or larger, offering the best cost-performance ratio.
  • MTF-01P: Perfect for drones that require longer range and need to operate in more complex environments, such as low-reflectivity surfaces (e.g., black carpets) or bright light conditions.

The hardware interfaces, protocol settings, and setup methods for different flight controllers are the same for all three sensors, so the setup tutorials on YouTube apply to all of them.
